Majorly,
as it is with most people, the dark spots left behind by skin wounds will
naturally fade away on their own. However, for some people, it may take
anywhere from six months to many years before their face returns back to
normal. Other forms of hyper-pigmentation especially ones as a result of aging,
allergies, reactions to some chemicals in some creams or those that occurs as a
result of bleaching agents don't always fade away on their own. In fact, they
tend to get darker as time goes on.
If
you are faced with dark spot and you want to get rid of them, follow this
guide.
Wash
your face
to
dry before applying anything to it is the first step to take in dealing with
any ailment that concerns the face.
You should also apply a face-wash that caters to your skin's type bearing in
mind that
there are different types of skins hence the need to apply the ones
that fit your skin. You can use a non-drying product if you have sensitive or
dry skin, or use a cleanser if your skin is greasy. Rub it very well against
your skin, leave for few minutes and then dry it off your face.
Sunscreen
Sunscreen protects the skin against the sun’s harmful UV rays and prevents
cancerous lesions. Sunscreens are important both in the prevention and
treatment of dark spots. It is important to note however that the prevention is
not against the ones we are exposed to when we go into a grocery store but the
more severe ones when we go to the beach.
It is equally super advantageous to make the use of sunscreens a routine if you
are really keen about getting rid of your dark spot faster because in addition
to the aforementioned, it also prevent the present dark spot from getting
darker and worse.
Exfoliation - Chemical peeling
Exfoliation - Chemical peeling
Exfoliation is the removal of the oldest skin cells on the skin's outermost surface. Chemical exfoliation involve the use of products that contains alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) or enzymes that act to loosen the glue-like substance that holds the cells together, allowing them to ease away.
While it is true that applying chemical exfoliants can
help fade your dark spot faster, you should also be aware that it can expose
your skin to harmful UV radiations which is why using sunscreen is more
recommended.
Skin
Lightening Creams
Skin lightening or skin bleaching refers to the practice of using chemical
substances to lighten skin tone in an attempt to lessen the concentration of melanin. While some chemicals
have been shown to be effective, some have however been proved to be toxic or
have questionable safety. It is always important to first check the FDA’s website for recommendation on
the use of the chemical in question.
In addition to these, you can also use creams that contain Vitamin E and Cocoa
Butter. I have personally had success with the use of Vitamin E containing
creams. I also have friends who uses fresh Aloe Vera leafs.
You can also employ surgical methods to fade away your acne scars. While surgery can be very effective for removing those dark spots, it can also be very expensive and painful. If you're considering surgery for your acne scars, make sure you consider all your options before you make your decision. Talk it over extensively with your doctor, and ask to interview patients who've undergone the surgery to fade their dark spots to have an idea of the cost and the process.
