In
fact, I ask myself, why apply a skin-burning chemical to your skin when there
are natural cures which will neither burn your skin nor cost you your cloth!
Although
it is recommended to consult your dermatologist in case of severe dark spots,
but there is no need for an expensive trip to your dermatologist if you knew
the items in your Kitchen which you can use to get rid of dark spots, facial
marks, acne scars and such other spots.
So
what are these natural remedies and why do they work?
Citrus
Fruits
Citruses
contain Vitamin C which is a natural bleaching agent. Hence, Citruses like
oranges, lemons and lime are rich in Vitamin C. Of all citrus fruits however,
lemon is reputed to be the most effective home remedy for correcting dark
spots, especially for age spots. Simply apply some lemon juice directly on the
spot, using a dab of cotton. The citric acid in the juice would work to bleach the spot and make your skin clear.
Lemon
Concoctions
Besides
using lemon alone, lemon juice may also be used as an ingredient for various
home remedies for correcting dark spots. Lemon or lime juice can be added in
various vegetable and fruit masks such as cucumbers and apricots. Lemon can
also be mixed with Parsley juice, orange and red currant juices. This may also
be applied with your favorite moisturizing cream. This mixture also has a
lightening effect that works well with freckles and dark spots.
Milk
and honey
Milk
and honey are also good natural remedies for correcting dark spots. Just like
lemon, you can use these two as it is or with other ingredients. For milk, you
can use either sour milk or buttermilk which both contain lactic acid. This
acid in milk has a gentle peeling effect which lightens skin without irritating
it. Honey, on the other hand has several skin renewing properties. It may be
heated and applied alone or mixed with wheat germ for a more lightening effect.
In
addition to all of these, you can also try the following:
- Make a paste of saffron and add some honey, apply it on the face to remove black spots.
- Make a mixture of 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice and glycerin and apply it on the spots.
- Grind dried basil leaf, neem and mint (100 gm each). Add some turmeric powder and rose water to make it in a paste form and apply it on the spots.
- Grind betel leaf and add a little coconut oil and apply it on the spots.
- Soak a chappathi in milk overnight. Make it into a paste and apply it on black heads.
Repeat
for several days.
